First Demo!


And finally, the first demo of Bloodlust: Santa Monica is here! 
There are still a lots of things to add to the game so let me elaborate a bit about the scope of the demo:

  • Rooms & Characters: the demo only covers the first 8 rooms of the total of 20 that are scheduled for the full game. That is a lot of rooms, which involve a lot of items and a lot of characters. I've tried to portray the level of density and deepness in the dialogs that each character will have, but unfortunately I've only had time to write between 10-20% of the total number of dialog options for each NPC. That is also a lot of text and English is not my mother language so expect some mistakes in that regard.
  • Introduction & Cutscenes: there is no introduction and very few animations in the demo. The demo starts right in the midle of the first room, which is abrupt and unwelcoming. Expect a proper introduction and more pixel animations in the full game. 
  • Interface: Same goes for the interface. I know the old SCUMM interface with the verbs panel and good old pixel hunting nowadays seems rather old and clumpsy. I'm planning on implementing a new interface with a verb wheel, item high-lighting to prevent pixel hunting and all the expected advancements of a modern point & click adventure.
  •  Saving, Loading & Settings: I've had no time to implement those but they're of course part of the full game. 
  • Everything else: the demo is probably buggy and broken. I apologize in advance for that. If you step into any bug, please leave a comment and I'll try to fix it for the next version of the game.

Aside from that, the demo is fully playable and hopefully gives a hint of what's the game about. Enjoy!
